His psychological realism exerted a strong influence upon another scifi pioneer, Jules Verne. PoeΓÇÖs ΓÇ£The Balloon HoaxΓÇ¥ of 1844 inspired VerneΓÇÖs 1863 ΓÇ£Five Weeks in a BalloonΓÇ¥ and the 1873 ΓÇ£Around the World in 80 Days.ΓÇ¥ The visionary qualities of PoeΓÇÖs writing was also influential in the work of H. P. Lovecraft and Ray Bradbury.
